Angus Online - Mini Show Review (Spoiler-Free)

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

For my latest Zoom review, I attended a show organised by Angus Baskerville.

A Warwickshire based professional magician who is also a member of the Magic Circle. This review show took place on March the 12th at 1930 GMT for 45 minutes.

Like most magicians who previously relied on face to face bookings, Angus has made the transition to Zoom.

I booked via Eventbrite and the ticket cost was really reasonable at £5.99 a ticket. As it turned out, £1 of every ticket sale also went towards a charity - "Stamp Out Suicide".

After purchasing, I received a confirmation email and a further email before the show with a Zoom link. Clear instructions on how to join were provided along with a small list of props that you needed to have at hand e.g, playing cards.

On the day of the show, I was able to join early and I was surprised to see at peak about 70 screens; which meant that about 130 plus audience members were viewing.

Audience management was good, and it was easy to hear Angus. He narrated through the performance well and gave some background about himself.

The show was also very interactive, using card magic, mentalism and even cup and ball. All instructions were very clear.

Though Angus may have been a little nervous at the beginning, he has no need to be as he is excellent and presented his set well. He is also quite humorous and while some of the routine is established effects, Angus put his own spin on things. The audience loved him.

I have seen a lot of shows that vary in quality, but this performance really was very well put together.

The show was excellent and I believe that Angus has a big future ahead of him. Technically, he was perfect and didn't put a foot wrong. I would easily want to watch him again and found myself really enjoying the performance.

The quality of the stream was good. No technical issues from a performance perspective. I briefly missed a few minutes of the show at the beginning but the issue was low bandwidth at my end.

At the time of writing, tonight's show was the only date advertised. However, if you get a chance to view Angus or book him online, I would recommend him.

About me –

My magic career began in 2014, after studying at the famous Davenports in London. I gained membership of the local Leamington and Warwick Magic Society in 2015 and was accepted as a member of the prestigious MAGIC CIRCLE in February 2020. I am very proud of this achievement as it allows me to walk in the footsteps of the best and most famous magicians in the business – Dynamo, David Copperfield and Paul Daniels.

Please take a look at my gallery and testimonials below to get a feel for what I do and the passion behind my work. I look forward to adding huge value to your event. I have performed at Edinburgh festivals and other festivals near and far, with my own show at Ventnor Fringe.

Magic changes lives. It has been my honour to perform at the Parallel Festival for disabilities at London’s Olympic Park in 2017. I am passionate about magic as a communication tool and have performed at Autism’s Got Talent at London’s Mermaid Theatre 2015 and 2016.

In my work as an autism advocate for Anna Kennedy OBE, I have had the opportunity to perform magic for celebrities such as Frank Bruno MBE, Peter Jones CBE and the legendary comedian, Jasper Carrott. - …..

One thing is guaranteed – magic will always brighten any special occasion – whether you’re 9 or 99 years (or even 100!), I’ll be happy to be of service to make your event magically memorable!”
