My Week In Magic - Update 29

Site wise, a really busy week with preparing lots of new content. Working on several interviews and a couple of show reviews. I was on holiday this week, so I had a bit more time to concentrate on my blog posts.

Interview wise, I was working with Vinny Sagoo and Jay & Joss. Two really great interviews and I am pleased with both. Vinny's interview was published on Friday (here) and Jay & Joss will be next week. Both are worth a read.

Also I have started working with another couple of artists on interviews that I will announce very soon. Both are very exciting and I cannot wait to tell you more.

Early in the week, I attended a Leicester Magicians Network (LMN) demo which was with ACE magic studios and Stevo. An enjoyable session with Stevo working through his available effects.

Later in the week, also with LMN I joined a jam session practising cups with Adam Edgeley who is a founder of the Leicester Magicians Network along with other attendees. Such a good club and I am lucky to be a member. Have already made some great friends in the group.

Do take a look at the LMN website. Recently revised and updated with new details and upcoming pro lectures like Richard Jones.

I also attended a couple of online shows which I have reviewed. Two very enjoyable and different shows.

The first to mention is the Chris Dugdale show that I attended earlier today at 1am GMT (Sunday 14th). Chris now lives in the States and it was well worth staying up late to see him perform. The review will be out latest on Tuesday (16th). A Fantastic show.

The other online show was Angus Baskerville which was actually on my birthday on Friday. Another very enjoyable show that formed part of my birthday celebrations. Thanks Angus. Read the review here.

I got thoroughly spoilt for my birthday. My magic related presents included the below and I will be adding many of these to my collectables page over the coming days and I have already started. Books, effects and lots of signed things:

And on top of that, I managed to buy myself a few more signed items for my rapidly growing collection. A Michael Ammer signed effect instruction booklet and a couple of posters signed by Eugene Burger and Jeff McBride. All at good prices on e-bay. The Jeff McBride posters have already arrived and I have added to my collectables page.

A Darcy Oake book that I ordered in November also finally arrived. I thought it was lost in the post as came from Canada.

Practice wise for the week, I spent a bit of time with my cups and balls. Also started working through the affects three coin Monte and attraction by Neo Magic.

Book wise, as I write this I have just been looking at and beginning to read Performing Magic by Tony Middleton.

That’s it for another week. Think it maybe a quieter week next week and I really hope to do some more cups practice.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Martin
