My Week In Magic - Update 63

Writer: Martin BrophyMartin Brophy

A very busy week on the magic front with events pretty much every day.

An excellent start to the week. I was able to meet and chat with some magic greats in person which included Fay Presto, Noel Qualter, John Conway, Ben Hanlin and others. An enjoyable evening out in London with Adam Edgeley and Ian Gamage from the LMN. We got to see many faces and speak to lots of magicians.

We even had the opportunity to see Fay perform some sleight of hand at very close proximity. Excellent and a memory I will remember for a long time. She was absolutely amazing, very friendly and welcoming.

After such an amazing Monday, I watched “How Magic Changed TV“ on the Tuesday. A very interesting show that documented TV magic from around the 50’s/60’s to the present day. Loads of clips and a walk through TV magic history. Worth catching on channel 5. Many great clips to watch that video included Paul Daniels and his cup routine. You can download on My5 or Sky.

Mid-week, I attended a lecture at the LMN in Leicester. Another great lecture and we had a really good turnout. This week was discussing magic you carry in your wallet. Loads of chat, learning and performances.

I was also lucky enough to be presented with a gift for my contribution to the club. Thank you LMN. Appreciated. Another nice collectable to keep.

My latest MagicSeen magazine also arrived on Thursday. A great interview with Kat Hudson. An enjoyable magazine as usual to read and nice to see a female magician featured on the cover. It doesn’t happen enough.

Yesterday, I spent a little time on the website updating the collectables section. I was also able to meet up with magician David Minton. We had coffee and the playing cards were also on the table quite quickly. I was also able to get a signed playing card from David. Another signature for my collection.

Lastly, I also thought I better book my hotel room for the BMC 2022 and got it sorted. Can’t wait as I know that other members of LMN are also staying there! I am sure that the convention will come around quickly now.

Have a good one

Martin
