Last year I had a chance to see Derren Brown for the first time while he was on tour at Northampton's Royal & Derngate theatre.
Derren tends to ask audiences not to write reviews and publish any spoilers. As a result, I did not post a review at the time as it simply felt it would not leave me with much to write. I always write spoiler free reviews but you still need some freedom to write such an article.
If I am honest, while it was an experience to see the show, I did not enjoy it as much as I was expecting. The seat was fairly good but perhaps I was just not in the right mood for it. I felt that some of that act was too drawn out but the audience appeared to love it. He did get a standing ovation.
After the UK tour, Derren took the show to London where it was in the West End for a few months. Certainly, it appears to have been a popular show with a long run and good sales.
The show has now been recorded and is being televised by Channel 4 on Sunday the 23rd of April at 9pm. Channel 4 being the home of many Derren Brown specials over the years (and Netflix).
I will definitely watch to see if my opinion changes. In the meantime, take a look at the link below that has other Derren Brown stage shows to stream.
