Badges from Live Shows (Ben Hart and Morgan & West)

It is always nice to gain merchandise from shows, particularly when I am unable to pick up any used show props such as playing cards.

These badges were acquired at the Ben Hart "Wonder "show and also at the Morgan & West "Unbelievable Science" shows that I attended.

The Ben Hart badge is particularly nice. A small metal enabled badge. And of course, if any recognises it, you know that they are a magic fan!

The Morgan & West badges are produced more for a younger audience. Still nice to have though.

Jamie Raven - "Making Magic" Audience Envelopes

On entry into the theatre to watch Jamie's "Making Magic" show, all audience members were handed envelopes to allow participation in one part of the show. Of course, you are supposed to keep the envelope sealed until advised otherwise.

Enclosed were four pictures that all audience members needed to rip up and tear when following instructions from Jamie.

I only have the torn parts of the picture that I was left with as of course, everything else ended up on the floor. Must have been a nice mess for the cleaners.

The envelope also included a merchandise ad for Jamie's store and I kept the tickets for the show as a souvenir as well.

Acquired: 18th October 2018 at the Corby Cube.

Jamie Raven - Signed Note

Jamie used these notes originally during his Britains Got Talent performances.

During his tour in 2018, you could buy these for £5 and get Jamie to sign.

At the time I was collecting items so passed on the opportunity. Therefore, has cost a little more via e-bay to acquire one.

Mark Shortland Original Artwork of Woody from Toy Story

As well as a magician, Mark Shortland is an artist. To date he has created three decks of cards - 53 Films, 53 Magicians and 53 Movies. His website sells his original artworks used to create the decks of cards that he designs. Therefore, every art piece is unique and was used to help create a real deck of playing card.

This piece of artwork caught my eye because I saw Mark draw a Woody as part of one of his online performances. Therefore, when I saw the original artwork used for the 53 Films cards on sale, I had to buy. It came with a certificate of authenticity, signed by Mark and giving the location where painted. This piece was painted on a cruise hip between Colombo and Phuket. Signed.

On receipt, the actual artwork took me by surprise as a the picture online does not do it justice. Mark is an amazing artist and it now holds memories of watching Mark perform and painting a similar picture live for a Zoom audience.

Paul Daniels - Card Trick No 1

I am interested in buying some of the Paul Daniels TV Magic tricks range and I keep an eye on e-bay.

The difficulty is that the age of the tricks means that they are not always in good condition. Some 40 years old now since production.

As Trick No 1, I felt tempted to buy this one and the condition is reasonable. I may but more but would like some of the plastic tricks themselves rather than the card packs.

I am particularly interested in finding some of the tracks that I owned myself while growing up.

Richard Jones - Large Playing Cards From "Escape"

While watching the Richard Jones "Escape" show at Corby Cube, we were in the front row.

At the end of the first act, Richard with help from a spectator, threw a deck of cards in the air and Richard was then able to stab a chosen card with his sword.

During the intermission, the deck of cards that were thrown into the air were still on the stage and I was able to pick a few up!

As a stage prop and for ease of the effect, these cards are actually larger than standard cards, though hard to make that out in this photo. A nice memento of some cards used in an actual performance by Richard.

Acquired: 13th September 2019 at Corby Cube.
Random Private Cards from Magicians

I really appreciate how personable many magicians are towards their fans..

I have been lucky to receive a few birthday cards and even a Christmas card.

Respecting the intentions of the individuals as private cards, wont publish the messages for these.

The Magical Birthday was a great surprise, birthday card from Mandy Muden. Then, also a lovely card from Romany.

One card that I hope to find soon is a signed Christmas card from Ben Halnlin. At present, filed somewhere with loads of other Christmas cards. Hope to find it soon.

Acquired: From 2018 onwards
Richard Jones - Lucky Coin
Richard had previously given away some of these coins as competition prizes and they are extremely limited edition. On the 31/01/2021, Richard put a limited number on sale and I was able to buy one. I received really quickly. A nice size and very good quality.
These special Limited Edition coins follow a tradition of The Magic Circle where it is considered a sign of respect and honour to receive a coin from a fellow magician. Richard originally created these coins to give out to the troops in Kabul, Afghanistan when he visited in 2018 as a sign of gratitude for their incredible work.

Now for the first time they are available for followers of Richard to help spread some positivity during this pandemic. One side features Richard's Army values and the other holds the logo of The Magic Circle, the most highly regarded Magic Society in the world, of which Richard is a proud Member. Richard believes these coins bring good luck when we need it most.
